| < < | The SuperKEKB e+e- circular collider is a Super B-factory designed to reach the highest ever achieved instantaneous luminosity of 8×10e35 /cm2/s. SuperKEKB intense beams are expected to produce a very high level of background particles, increasing the detector occupancy and the radiation level, with major impact on the 2 innermost layers of the vertex detector. The present project is about defining a contribution to the characterisation of the SuperKEKB induced background within the Belle II inner tracker volume, using PLUME double-sided ladders equipped with CMOS pixel sensors, developed by the PICSEL group. This background study will be performed during the phase 2 of the Belle II experiment commissioning (BEAST), scheduled from late 2017 to early of 2018. | |||||||
