2018 SAKURA FUNDING PROGRAM PROMOTING FRENCH-JAPANESE COLLABORATION

The SAKURA program is funded by the JSPS in Japan and by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and of Education and Research in France. It provides funding for bilateral exchanges between French and Japanese teams of researchers, for up to two years. Exceptionnaly, a third year can be granted. New collaborations involving junior researchers and doctoral students have priority in the selection. The maximum amount of funding is 6000 euros/year for the French teams, and 1000000 Yen for the Japanese teams, covering exclusively travel expenses for mutual visits. The deadline for applying is September 6, 2017. Please see the detailed description here (in French). 2017 SUPPORT FROM FRENCH EMBASSY IN TOKYO

The French Embassy in Tokyo has a program providing financial support to French scientists who want to build / explore new collaborations with Japanese partners. The funding is a grant covering the cost of one round trip from France to Japan (travel and local expenses). The deadline for support in 2017 was January 31. RECENT EVENTS

  • The TYL Science Camp for Female High School Students is a joint program of the TYL and KEK Gender Equality Office, organised at KEK with the aim of encouraging young Japanese female students to become interested in science. It involves several activities, including introductory lectures on advanced science results, casual talks by graduate students majoring in science and engineering, visits of research facilities at KEK.The last session was organised at KEK, April 3-4, 2017, in the presence of two of the TYL Directors, Prof. Junji Haba of KEK and Dr. Philip Bambade of CNRS, and included a French speaker, Dr. Marie-Emmanuelle Couprie of CEA.
