ACAT07 Workshop Bulletin & Call for Abstracts
The XI ACAT workshop (Advanced Computing and Analysis Techniques in physics research) is being held this year at the NIKHEF institute in Amsterdam. The workshop dates are April-23 - April-27.
(Details can be found at the web pages at
http://www.nikhef.nl/acat07)
The Scientific program consists of plenary and parallel sessions and panel discussions. The topics to be covered are as follows –
- Computing Technology for Physics Research
- Multilevel parallelism
- Distributed computing
- New architectures
- High precision computing
- Software quality control
- User Interfaces, Common Libraries.
- Online Monitoring and Control
- Data Analysis - Algorithms and Tools
- Neural Networks and Other Pattern Recognition Techniques
- Evolutionary and Genetic Algorithms
- Advanced Data Analysis Environments
- Statistical Methods
- Detector and Accelerator Simulations
- Reconstruction Algorithms
- Visualization Techniques
- Methodology of Computations in Theoretical Physics
- Automatic Computation Systems: from Processes to Event Generators
- Multi-dimensional Integration and Event Generators
- Intensive High Precision Numerical Computations: Algorithms and Systems
- Computer Algebra Techniques and Applications
As theme for some of the plenary talks we have the cross-fertilisation with similar work done in industry.
There will be much time available for presentations in the form of parallel sessions. People interested in attending or presenting their work can register and/or submit an abstract. The deadline for abstracts is March-15.
Acceptance of an abstract should be at most two weeks after it has been submitted.
The attendance of the workshop is in principle limited to 150 persons.
The proceedings (all talks) will be published on DVD (with ISBN) and made available on the internet.
Around this time of the year, the hotel situation in Amsterdam is a bit difficult. We have managed to reserve 75 rooms in the HEM hotel. A bus will be run from this hotel during the workshop. Once these rooms have been taken, you have to try to find a hotel yourself via the Amsterdam hotel reservation system (all details are on the web site). This will be more expensive. We encourage you to register for the workshop and make hotel reservations as soon as possible.
We look forward to seeing you at ACAT07.
