How to apply?

1. Upload this to request funding for 2016: 2016 proposal

2. Upload this to justify the funding awarded in 2015: FCPPL 2015 report

3. Modify the ID of the files according to the the following rules / IMPORTANT title(ID) of the file has to contain :

  • PART (if your project is related to a (running) Particle Physics experiment, such as LHC experiments or BES for example),
  • DEV (for a project on R&D detector development or instrumentation),
  • THP (Theoretical Physics)
  • AST for Astroparticle and cosmology.

  • ChineseInst (resp. FrenchInst) is the institute of the Chinese (resp. French) project leader.

  • Name is a short (max 10 letters) title for the project. For projects existing in 2014 already, please keep the same title.

Both the application file and the report files should be named by their ID (for example "LHC-IHEP-CPPM-Atlas_proposal .doc" and "LHC-IHEP-CPPM-Atlas_report.doc", ....).

4. Fill in the two forms. See the Guidelines section below.

5. Send the application and report forms to Esthere Garnier (garnier@cppm.in2p3.fr) and cc to omartino@in2p3.fr and chen.gang@ihep.ac.cn.

Guidelines

Below are some guidelines to fill in the application form.

  • FCPPL funding can be requested only for staff (researcher, engineer, and student) exchange. By no means can FCPPL funding be used to buy material or equipment .

  • The contributions requested to France and China must be equivalent .This is an important criterion that will be taken into account to approve or not the renewal each year. Note that at present there is no FCPPL specific budget on the Chinese side and that the Chinese teams must contribute from their own project money. Note also that this principle of balanced amounts only applies to the funding requested to FCPPL, not to the additional funding (ANR, CSC, etc).

  • Given the present financial context in FCPPL - IN2P3, it is highly unlikely that the FCPPL - IN2P3 support to a given project exceeds 8000€. Projects are therefore strongly encouraged to seek financial support to the (numerous) alternative funding sources for Sino-French scientific collaboration (e.g. Cai Yuan Pei, PICS, CAS-CNRS or NSFC-CNRS programs, CSC or Eiffel PhD grants). FCPPL will provide you with all technical support available to help you set up your application and optimize your chances of success to any of these program calls.

  • As a general practice in FCPPL , for a staff exchange, the country of origin pays for the trip cost while the host country takes the stay costs in charge. Travel to China +visa typically cost 1000€ (9000 yuans to France). Daily expenses in China (France) roughly amount to 500 yuans (90€). The advised allowance is 2000€/month for a staff’s stay in France, 1400€/month for a student (all included). In the latter case, requests should not exceed 6 months, as it is then possible to get funding from other sources (CSC in particular).

  • Both in the proposal and report forms, sources of funding other than FCPPL should be quoted if they directly benefit to this specific collaboration project. PhD grants (in the case of a student in co-tutorship working on this research project), or equipment (again if directly linked to this specific research project) for example fall into this category. The funding source (China Scholarship Council, PICS, laboratory,…) as well as its status (submitted/ approved) and amount should be quoted. See examples in PART-IHEP-CPPM-CMS_proposal_example.pdf.

  • Applications will be evaluated by French and Chinese reviewers and discussed at the Steering Committee to be held right after the FCPPL workshop. The scientific conclusions as well as the final funding decisions will be communicated to the applicants in the weeks following this Steering Committee .

Should you need further information, please contact Chen Gang (Gang.Chen@ihep.ac.cn) or Olivier Martineau-Huynh (omartino@in2p3.fr).
