How to apply?

1. Upload this form to request funding for 2021: click here

2. Modify name of the file FCPPL_2021_proposal_TYP_CNAME_FNAME_ACRONYM.docx
so that we can identify your project just by looking at them, following:

  • TYP to be selected between:
    • AST (Astroparticle and cosmology),
    • DEV (Accelerator, computing, detector, or instrumentation developments),
    • NEU (Neutrinos),
    • PAP (Running Particle Physics experiment),
    • THP (Theoretical Physics)

  • CNAME (resp. FNAME), the last name of the leader on the Chinese (resp. French) side of the project.

  • ACRONYM, the acronym or a short (max 10 letters) title for the project.

3. Fill in the form(s) following the Guidelines section below.

4. Send the proposal and/or report forms (PDF VERSION ONLY, Please!) to pantat@cppm.in2p3.fr, kajfasz@cppm.in2p3.fr and cheng@ihep.ac.cn.

Guidelines

Below are some guidelines to fill in the application form.

  • Note that if you were awarded FCPPL funding in 2019, you DO NOT need to submit a report form this year; we already have it smile

  • FCPPL funding can be requested only for staff (researcher, engineer, and student) exchange. By no means can FCPPL funding be used to buy material or equipment .

  • The contributions requested to France and China must be equivalent .This is an important criterion that will be taken into account to approve or not the renewal each year. Note that at present there is no FCPPL specific budget on the Chinese side and that the Chinese teams must contribute from their own project money. Note also that this principle of balanced amounts only applies to the funding requested to FCPPL, not to the additional funding (ANR, CSC, etc).

  • Given the present financial context in FCPPL - IN2P3, it is unlikely that the FCPPL - IN2P3 support to a given project exceeds 8000€. Projects are therefore strongly encouraged to seek financial support to the (numerous) alternative funding sources for Sino-French scientific collaboration (e.g. Cai Yuan Pei, IEA [previously called PICS], CAS-CNRS or NSFC-CNRS programs, CSC or Eiffel PhD grants). FCPPL can provide you support to help you set up your application and optimize your chances of success to any of these program calls.

  • As a general practice in FCPPL , for a staff exchange, the country of origin pays for the trip cost while the host country takes the stay costs in charge. Travel to China +visa typically cost 1000€ (9000 yuans to France). Daily expenses in China (France) roughly amount to 500 yuans (90€). The advised allowance is 2000€/month for a staff’s stay in France, 1400€/month for a student (all included). In the latter case, requests should not exceed 6 months, as it is then possible to get funding from other sources (CSC in particular).

  • Both in the proposal and report forms, sources of funding other than FCPPL should be quoted if they directly benefit to this specific collaboration project. FCPPL.!PhD grants (in the case of a student in co-tutorship working on this research project), or equipment (again if directly linked to this specific research project) for example fall into this category. The funding source (China Scholarship Council, IEA, laboratory,…) as well as its status (submitted/ approved) and amount should be quoted.

  • Applications are evaluated by French and Chinese reviewers and discussed with the Steering Committee for arbitration. A summary of the observations and recommendations of the reviewers can be sent to the project leaders upon request.
