B_04 : Contribution to the commissioning of the SuperKEKB collider using CMOS pixel sensors
Summary:
The SuperKEKB e+e- circular collider is a Super B-factory designed to reach the highest ever achieved instantaneous luminosity of 8×10^35 /cm^2 /s^1. SuperKEKB intense beams are expected to produce a very high level of background particles, increasing the detector occupancy and the radiation level, with major impact on the 2 innermost layers of the vertex detector.
The present project is about defining a contribution to the characterisation of the SuperKEKB induced background within the Belle II inner tracker volume, using CMOS pixel sensors developed by the PICSEL group. This background study will be performed during the Belle II experiment commissioning (BEAST) scheduled from end of 2015 to end of 2016.
