Bio_2 : The Geant4-DNA project at the Physics-Biology frontier

Summary : The Bio2 projects encompasses modeling and experimental interdisciplinary activities. Both Japan and French teams are involved in the Geant4-DNA project aiming at extending the Geant4 Monte Carlo toolkit for the modeling of early biological effects of ionising radiation at the DNA scale. In particular, we expect to port Geant4-DNA physics to GPU allowing to achieve impressive computing time gains. In parallel, we propose to carry out a prospective radioactive study of Japanese teas (in particular detection of 137Cs), collecting samples from sites of production. All the detection efficiencies are measured experimentally and controlled using the Geant4 code.
