---+!! Positions, fellowships,... %TOC% ---++ H1 doctoral position at LAL, Orsay from -- Main.VuAnhTuan - 29 May 2006 <verbatim> The proposed training and thesis in French: <http://www.lal.in2p3.fr/~zhangzq/exph1/these/These_stage_Zhang.doc> a recent poster for the H1 group at LAL: <http://www.lal.in2p3.fr/~zhangzq/exph1/h1/h1poster06.pdf> and my personal web page: <http://www.lal.in2p3.fr/~zhangzq/> Concerning the thesis, there are two parts. The first part is on the analyses of the HERA-II data in order to measure the neutral and charged cross sections at high Q2. The second part is on the interpretation of the cross section data in terms of a precise determination of the strong coupling constant and the final word on the parton distribution functions and electroweak parameters such as the light quark couplings to the Z boson and the mass of the W boson. It is expected that these results will go in to a summary report to be published in Physics Report. For any additional inquiry, please contact Dr. Zhiquing Zhang <zhangzq@lal.in2p3.fr> LAL, B.P. 34 Tel. 33 (0)1 64 46 84 81 (Orsay) F-91898 Orsay Cedex Tel. 49 40 89 98 29 01 (DESY) Fax. 33 (0)1 64 46 85 46 (Orsay) </verbatim> ---++ ICTP supports for CMS and ALICE from -- Main.JohnEllis - 22 May 2006 <verbatim> Dear colleague, The Director of the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Trieste, Prof. K.R. Sreenivasan, has recently informed us of a new programme to involve ICTP in experiments at the LHC. The ICTP will offer scholarships and fellowships to physicists from developing countries, to enable them to work with Trieste teams of the Italian Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN) on the CMS or ALICE experiment. They could also work with theorists at ICTP and SISSA who are interested in the outcome of the LHC experiments. The positions include: Two scholarships for students enrolled in Ph. D. programmes in developing countries, enabling them to work for up to 6 months each year for three years with any of the groups mentioned above; Two one-year fellowships for postdoctoral researchers from developing countries to work with experimental groups under the program of Training and Research in Italian Laboratories, and two post-doctoral positions to work at ICTP on theory aspects related to LHC; Two associateships for more senior physicists from developing countries to spend up to two months each year for a certain number of years depending on the availability of funds. Candidates interested in these positions should apply to the LHC contact person at the ICTP, Dr. Bobby Acharya, bacharya@ictp.it, with a copy to Marie-Christine Guirao at CERN, Marie-Christine.Guirao@cern.ch In addition to a CV, list of publications and personal statement, candidates should arrange for senior scientists knowledgeable about them to send one or more letters of recommendation. Best regards, John Ellis </verbatim> ---++ "activity" mailing list, newsgroup A mailing list dedicated to "Physics" provides positions, annoncement and other information. <verbatim> ********************************************************************************* Announcements and information for scientific and education activities can be submitted via this address (activity@iop.vast.ac.vn). ********************************************************************************* ********************************************************************************* If you do not want to receive information of this kind, please, send us an empty message with subject line "unsubcribe". </verbatim> ---++ Others -- Main.DenisPerretGallix - 22 May 2006
